Thread and Press CIC
A Community Interest Company

Our projects will provide a range of affordable opportunities for adults and children, designed to encourage creative participation and increase the uptake in creative hobbies. Sessions will run between November 2021 and the end of February 2022.
We want to encourage as many people as possible to try something creative. Our sessions are perfectly set up for beginners, or would be suitable for more experienced artists looking to try something new. Sessions are run by Holly Davis, co-founder of Thread and Press CIC. Holly is an experienced and qualified teacher and a practising artist. With years of experience teaching these techniques, Holly will show you how to try a range of techniques including screenprinting, felting, painting, drawing, block printing, sewing, embroidery and more. Our sessions are designed to enable learners and equip them with the knowledge, experience and confident to further pursue creative activities after the session. Whatever your experience level, Holly will welcome you and show you new ways to be creative!
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN IN...
Creativity is of huge benefit to our mental health. The recent lockdown showed us how much people and communities benefitted from shared participation and creative activities. Partaking in a creative task can help to lower anxiety, reduce stress and provide a welcome distraction and opportunity to change focus and clear your mind. It is important to keep our brains active, as well as our bodies. This is a great opportunity to find out how much creativity can benefit you, even if it is something you've never really tried before. Recent months have been difficult for many and we appreciate how hard it has been to find safe opportunities to socialise and meet other people. We need to find our confidence and motivation to meet with other like-minded people once again! Our sessions will allow you to meet other creative-minded people and perhaps find a new hobby, club or group.
We want to ensure that people in Pocklington and Market Weighton have the confidence and opportunity to pursue a wider range of creative opportunities and gather the knowledge, support and training required to take their own steps towards a creative hobby or activity.
HOW IT WORKS
Sessions will be run in various locations in Pocklington and Market Weighton between November 2021 and end of February 2022. Sessions will run for approximately 2.5 hours and will run at different times of day to accommodate as many people as possible. Each session is a standalone session there is no requirement to attend all sessions on offer. In fact, to allow as many people as possible to participate, we will initially take bookings for a maximum of TWO sessions per person (unless places remain available on other sessions prior to the session start date, in which case you are welcome to attend more than two sessions).
Sessions are kindly subsidised by Active Towns and East Riding of Yorkshire Council and will cost just
£3 per person (this includes the cost of all materials).
These sessions are a fantastic opportunity and we expect demand to be high. As a result, we ask that you make a commitment to book only if you have every intention of attending, and let us know as early as possible if circumstances arise and you cannot attend (we will always endeavour to refund you wherever possible - our full Terms and Conditions can be found below)
To book a session, see what is on offer below and click BOOK below the relevant session to be transferred to the Eventbrite booking link. Please note, we can only accept a maximum of TWO bookings per person and you should complete one form per person if you are completing the form for multiple family members.
Once we have received your booking you will get an automated confirmation email from Eventbrite and a confirmation email just prior to the event, If sessions are full we will ask you if you want to be included on the waiting list. And that's it! You just need to attend your session and we will let you know if there are any special requirements (although we do provide all materials and equipment). We advise that you read our Terms and Conditions in full before booking.
We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy one of these sessions and that it may lead you into a new and exciting hobby.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
Holly
