Arts Workshops for Families
Creative Families is an exciting creative project for families - providing affordable creative workshops that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. We are pleased to be running this project in Goole and Withernsea this summer, supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
We are passionate about art - and we believe art is a great way for families to connect, learn and thrive.
Our sessions provide a welcoming and supportive space for families to create together. We encourage accompanying adults to join in, learn new skills and enjoy the pleasure of creativity. It is never too late to try new things, and learning and creating alongside your child is a great way to connect. With thanks to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, these sessions are on offer at an affordable price of £2 per child (accompanying adult joins in for free). These sessions are very popular, so book quickly to secure your place!
Sessions are running in Goole and Withernsea at the venues and dates as shown below:

can anyone attend?
These sessions are for children and their accompanying adult, and suitable for children aged 5+ (no need to book a place for accompanying adults).
We welcome learners with SEND, and we offer a SEND specialist session in each area. These sessions are for families with children with SEND and offer the following:
-
Small groups - only 6 child tickets available per session to keep numbers low
-
A calm and relaxed environment
-
Regular break opportunity - no missed learning
-
Welcoming to all learner needs
-
Focused on process and experience, rather than outcome.
If you have younger children (under 5) the activity may not be suitable. However, you are welcome to bring them along, there will be some colouring-in options they can do - just please ensure they can be adequately supervised. If you are bringing younger siblings no need to book a ticket for them, but please let us know once you have booked by emailing threadandpress@gmail.com so we can ensure there is plenty of space.
All participating children require a booked ticket. We allow for one accompanying adult to participate for each booked child. We ask that at least two adults attend if you are booking more than three children in your group.
We do not allow drop-offs for this session - we ask that one adult accompanies your child and we encourage you to join in too!
do we need to bring anything?
Art can be messy and sometimes can stain - please wear appropriate clothing. We do provide aprons and gloves, if required.
You may wish to bring a drink and snack for your child (no nuts please). If your child (or you) have food allergies, please ensure that you let us know so we can maintain a safe environment. If you bring a hot drink for yourself, please ensure it is in a sealed drink flask. We do not provide drinks or refreshments for these sessions (but we will have some bottled water in case it is needed).
will you take photographs?
We do like to take photographs of these events as they support our evaluation process. These photos may be used on our website, shared with our funders and on social media. However, we will always seek your permission in writing before photographing you or your child. We will provide photography/video permission forms at the start of each session. You can choose to opt out of photography/video.
