Hi all, we thought we would give you an update on how we are doing!
The vast majority of the money you pledged was used to compile and post the kits. There were a few resources left over for our classes, which has been really helpful. We also managed to purchase a Bernina sewing machine which has been a great help. We have enough stock for some kits to sell and we will be giving some away as part of our pledge promise. We promised that for every 10 kits purchased, we would give away one kit to someone in financial difficulty. We know how hard it has been for many people over the last few months, and indeed continues to be for many. We want everyone to have access to creative opportunity, and although we cannot achieve this goal for everyone, we can do our bit. We will very shortly list details on our website www.threadandpress.co.uk of how you can claim one of these kits. We only have a few, but we want them to go to people who do not currently have the finances to access these resources.
As for us, we have been finally able to begin our face-to-face classes. We started with summer holiday clubs over the summer in East Riding, which were a great success. We ran sessions in printing, illustration, clay, sewing, embroidery. They made aprons, notebooks, models, trainer prototypes and bedroom birdhouses! We have now started our term time classes for adults and children – running sewing, dress-making, screen-printing and print-making! After school and Saturday classes have also begun and have made a great start! We are really hopeful for the future and how we can expand our creative offer to more people.
Educational kits will be available to purchase shortly via our website and we plan to add more variations of kits later this year.
